Academic Leaves/Sabbaticals
Opportunities to expand knowledge, skills, and networks are essential for all University of Arizona employees, and are an important part of the College's commitment to SBS Faculty. Tenured faculty are eligible to apply for sabbatical leaves after six academic years of University service. The SBS deadline for sabbatical applications is November 1 of the year preceding the desired sabbatical leave.

Junior Sabbatical (Junior Faculty Professional Development Leave)
For tenure-track faculty, SBS is pleased to offer Junior Faculty Professional Development Leaves, intended to allow junior faculty the opportunity to pursue their research interests independently of teaching or other institutional responsibilities. A junior sabbatical may be taken in the second semester of the faculty member’s third year of appointment, or in either semester of the fourth or fifth years.
