Never has it been so important for Americans to understand the Middle East and the entire northern part of the African continent! A region of diverse languages, religions and cultures, it has a long and complex history which has included not only the birthplace of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, but also numerous peoples and civilizations.

The School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies (MENAS) offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. Students learn one or more of the languages taught by the department: Arabic, Persian, Turkish or Hebrew. Students with a grasp of the languages, cultures and histories of the Middle East and North Africa and will have an advantage in the globalizing world. Students obtain jobs in the government, become teachers or consultants, or pursue advanced degrees.
