UA anthropologists Diane Austin and Tom McGuire – who have studied the effects of the offshore petroleum industry on the Gulf Coast for 15 years – are part of a team of researchers studying the short- and long-term impacts of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster.

Did you know that our early tree-dwelling ancestors (from 3.6 million years ago!) walked like humans? And that UA anthropology professor David Raichlen gathered experimental evidence for this by filming people walking across the sand trackway he built in his motion capture lab? Media outlets around the world have been reporting Raichlen’s latest findings.

Chris Segrin, head and professor of the Department of Communication, is working with Terry Badger, a professor in the UA College of Nursing, to increase communication and improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their partners.

When mosquito season draws near, Geography Professor Paul Robbins shares about the work he and colleagues are doing with the Arizona Department of Health Services to study mosquito disease vectors in Arizona cities. Their aim: to help curb the spread of West Nile Virus and dengue fever.
